First time?

All participants must sign a Spire Climbing Center Waiver.  Participants under 18 years of age MUST have waivers signed by a parent or court-appointed guardian.

If you have never visited us before or it’s been more than one year since you completed a waiver, you'll need to watch our Facility Orientation/Bouldering video and complete a waiver.  Save time by completing this online before you arrive, and we'll have it on file when you get here!  After submitting our online waiver, don't forget to click the link sent to you in your confirmation email.

What to expect on your first visit:

Once you're here, you'll just have a few steps before getting started.

1.  If you didn’t complete your waiver online before hand you can do this at one of our waiver kiosks at the gym before getting started.

2.  Purchase a day pass, punch card, or membership and rent gear if needed. We rent everything you need to climb and will get you fitted with the proper shoes and harness to get you started.

3.  Finally, we'll give you a complimentary Intro to Belaying and/or Auto Belay Orientation if needed, and you'll be climbing to new heights!

FAQs

  • At Spire, we have all the tools and knowledge to help you get started safely. Climbing is a great activity that can be enjoyed at any age. We have members from all athletic backgrounds, from under 3 years old to over 70, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual preference. At both facilities, we make sure to have routes for people of all skill sets, and experience. If you do not have shoes or a harness, we offer rental gear as well.

Anyone can climb at Spire. Come give it a try!

  • All participants must sign a Spire Climbing Center Waiver. Participants under 18 years of age MUST have waivers signed by a parent or court-appointed guardian. Doing the waiver online allows you to get climbing right away, and can be filled out on a computer, tablet, or smartphone! If we do not have a valid waiver on file, the individual cannot climb. No exceptions! We don’t like turning away excited climbers, so please ensure that we have or can get a valid waiver!

  • We do not require an appointment for auto belay orientations, top rope belay lessons or day use of the gym. Our staff offer auto belay orientations and top rope belay lessons on a first come, first served basis, any time the gym is open. These classes are included in the price of the day pass and do not cost extra. We also offer refreshers for those who have belayed before but are a bit rusty on their skills. Spire does not require an appointment for top-rope or lead assessments, but we may be limited to offer these at busy times.

  • Everyone was a beginner once! Come to Spire's Main Facility, and we’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started! We provide free top rope and auto belay lessons any time we are open with no appointment required.

  • Climbing is a fun sport for people of all ages—and kids are often braver than their parents! Come in with your kids, and we’ll teach you how to control the ropes while they scale our walls. No appointment necessary, and no minimum age for climbing; we have equipment specifically designed to fit tiny bodies. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a 1:3 adult to child ratio for safety purposes, unless otherwise approved by Spire Staff.

  • If you already know how to enjoy a climbing gym, we simply need to assess your skills. First get an auto belay orientation, then show us you can top-rope belay safely, and finally get assessed on your lead climb and belay skills! (Must be able to complete auto belay orientation and top-rope belay assessment before being able to be assessed for lead climbing and lead belaying)

  • We have plenty of shoes, harnesses, and chalk bags for your use. We have gear for all body types, with a large variety of shoes and harnesses to fit even the smallest or largest climbers.

  • Climbing shoes are not required but are highly recommended. Street shoes or tennis shoes are a poor substitute for climbing shoes and will make climbing feel more difficult. We offer shoe rentals if you do not have any!

  • Belaying is managing the rope while your partner climbs. The belayer is responsible for keeping the climber safe while they climb. A typical belay lesson lasts about 30 minutes. The minimum age to learn how to belay is 14. Spire does not provide belayers unless a private lesson is scheduled.

  • Many people come to Spire by themselves to boulder and traverse. With these types of climbing, you don’t need a rope. We also have auto belays on our top-rope walls which eliminates the need for a belayer. If you are looking to make a friend, just grab one of our Looking for a Partner tags and attach it to your harness.
