FLEX YOUR JOY

Cultivating joy and flexibility in your relationship with movement and your body.

Members: FREE
Non-Members: Day Pass Required.

A community gathering to better understand the prevalence of disordered eating and weight stigma in the outdoor community. Join registered dietitians Ali Fox, Katie Campbell, and therapist Joanna Townsend to discuss how to foster a healthier, more flexible, and joyful relationship with movement and food. Whether you’re a climber or avid outdoor enthusiast, we will address the topics of fueling, combating wellness ideals, and the impacts of rigid rules and beliefs on mental and physical wellbeing.

The event will start with a showing of Light - the 2021 film on eating disorders in the climbing community, with Emily Harrington, Angie Payn, Kai Lightner, and Andrea Szekely followed by an educational talk and Q&A on what a healthy relationship with food and body looks like. Snacks will be provided!

This event is open to anyone, everyone, and everybody. The documentary and talk will include topics related to eating disorders, disordered eating, and mental illness.

Speakers: We are therapists and dietitians (Joanna Townsend of Root & Rise Psychotherapy, Ali Fox, of Ali Fox Nutrition Counseling, & Katie Campbell of Bitterroot Nutrition) spreading awareness and education on the prevalence of disordered eating within outdoor recreation in mountain towns. We believe there is much more to life available to us when we understand and challenge problematic attitudes around size, weight, and food within climbing, outdoor sports, and everyday life.
